The Observatory Improvement District (OBSID) is an established Special Rating Area (SRA) and provides top up services to the City of Cape Town. In addition, OBSID has an additional focus on special projects, including public spaces and heritage.
We commissioned a project, “Telling the Story of Observatory through heritage and memorialisation”, to capture the diverse history and communities within the Observatory area. This first phase of the project provided us with a richly detailed written report.
As we see it, the next phase of the project would be the summarisation and repackaging of this report into a user-friendly, attractive and interactive electronic resource, in order for the information to be translated into future actions.
We are looking for a supplier to produce this with practical resources to enable and inspire a range of different activations.
The anticipated outputs include:
- An interactive web-based resource site for the community to use to as a base from which to develop projects and continue conversations about the diverse heritage of Observatory.
- The scope of work includes summarising the existing report and linking existing websites and resources, as well as securing relevant permissions for content use.
- Imagination must be applied to the future projects that could emerge from this site (such as walking tours, maps, street art, memorial sites etc.). To this end, we require that some resources be in an attractive printable format to enable concrete information-sharing.
The successful supplier must have a deep understanding of heritage issues; website design and development and the design and production of printable resource materials.
Please submit your detailed proposal and budget to Amanda Kirk at OBSID on amanda@obsid.org.za by close of business on the 19th April 2023.
Shortlisted suppliers will be provided with the report to facilitate preparation for presentation of their proposal to a selection committee.
