I have been writing about the history of Potchefstroom for the past 40 years. I have been commissioned to write six books on various aspects of the history of the North-West University. I have also self-published two books: "Stories of Potchefstroom" (sold out) and "Kenneth McArthur - 'Marathan Mac' from Potchefstroom". My Master's study (Communications) was about the history of the local newspaper, the Potchefstroom Herald and my PhD study (in History) was about the history of the cultural activities of the NWU and Potchefstroom University. My blog: lenniegouws.co.za was created just before Covid struck in January 2020 and since then I have published more than 60 articles there on the history of Potchefstroom (mostly). As programme leader, I spearheaded a renewed interest in the preservation of the Historical Oak Avenue (a Grade 2 listed site) in 2017.
