Are you a passionate Jozi resident? Do you want to share the delights and little-known secrets of your neighbourhood with other Joburg residents? Then apply to host a #JoziWalks in May this year.
 
#JoziWalks is back for a third year and this year #JoziWalks hopes to build on the success of previous walks, to grow the number of attendees and expose even more people to Jozi’s many vibrant people and places. #JoziWalks is a series of JDA sponsored walking tours that aims to get Joburg residents to explore the city on foot, connect with their neighbours and encourage people to reflect on what makes neighbourhoods work.
 
The JDA again invites proposals from local community activists, influencers, tourism entrepreneurs, walking tour operators, heritage specialists and enthusiastic residents who want to create a #JoziWalks experience in their neighbourhood.
 
Anyone is eligible to host a walk but they must take place in neighbourhoods in which the JDA has a development project or focus, including the inner city and surrounds, Soweto and surrounds, Diepsloot, Orange Farm, Alexandra amongst to mention a few full details and criteria are contained in the attached form).
 
The JDA also encourages hosts to consider a central theme for their walk, from food to fashion, to attract a more diverse range of walkers and showcase the many different facets of the city.
 
Ten walks will be selected for the #JoziWalks weekend which will take place over the May 18-19, 2019 weekend. Each successful walk application will receive set sponsorship amount to plan and implement a walk (full details of the criteria are contained in the attached form).
 
Applications to host a walk open on Wednesday 27 February 2019 and close  at 4pm 22 March 2019. The application form to host a #JoziWalk is available online on the JDA website (www.jda.org.za) and in the cloud (click here to view).
