First and foremost, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the overwhelming messages of kindness and support during this difficult time. The outpouring of love and encouragement from our community has been truly heartwarming.
While assessments of the fire damage remain ongoing, we are actively working on a plan to move forward, ensuring we can welcome you back to the Club as soon as possible.
Contrary to some media reports, we are relieved to confirm that the fire did not impact our Kitchen. Although the cause of the fire remains under investigation, we are pleased to report that the Kitchen, Terrace Room, Private Dining Rooms, Patio, Gym, Changerooms, Admin Block, Generator, Dormy House and Sports Facilities were unharmed. However, the Reception, Foyers, Restaurant, and Ballroom sustained extensive damage, and smoke and water damage have rendered the Clubhouse currently inaccessible. The image above illustrates the extent of the damage.
Our Function Coordinators will contact members with upcoming functions to make necessary arrangements. Unfortunately, all future restaurant bookings have been cancelled. While we are eager to reopen, we must prioritise the safety of all members, guests and employees by adhering to necessary protocols.
Management is working closely with our employees to ensure their well-being and offering counselling where needed. In the spirit of resilience, many of our employees are actively contributing to the recovery efforts, and we are deeply grateful for their teamwork and dedication during this challenging period. Their hard work does not go unnoticed.
We would also like to express our sincerest thanks to the local fire department, Fire Ops, and emergency services for their exceptional support in managing the fire.
To our members, thank you for your kindness, patience, and cooperation throughout this process. It is not the physical structure that defines the Club, but the vibrant community we share together.
We will continue to provide updates as the situation develops and look forward to welcoming you back to the Club.
Sincerely,
Steve Nicholson
General Manager
