The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) has opened the nominations for the 2017/18 Cultural Affairs Awards for members of the public to nominate deserving individuals and organisations for these awards.
The awards have been presented by DCAS since 1999 in honour of those individuals and organisations that have made an impact across the fields of Arts and Culture, Libraries, Language, Heritage, Museums and Archives in the Western Cape.
Anroux Marais, Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, affirmed the importance of these awards: “It is important that we acknowledge the work being done by many people across our province to ensure that culture, history, language and records are being preserved and promoted. Our heritage should be easily accessible to future generations. I encourage the people of the Western Cape to nominate deserving individuals and organisations.”
More information on the awards, as well as the nomination forms, can be found online at https://www.westerncape.gov.za/general-publication/2017-18-cultural-affairs-awards
The closing date for nominations is 30 November 2017. The winners of the awards will be announced at a ceremony early in 2018.
