It’s that time again where we recognise all those who have contributed to the preservation, protection and the promotion of South African heritage through the Golden Shield Heritage Awards.  The National Heritage Council of South Africa invites the public to submit their nominations for the Golden Shield Heritage Awards 2017 by 21 August 2017. Nomination forms can be downloaded from: www.nhc.org.za.

This year’s awards will seek to recognise excellence in 10 categories; namely:

• National Living Treasure
• Local Government Commitment
• Preferred Heritage Destination
• Young Heritage Activist
• Experienced Heritage Activist
• Academic Excellence        
• Heritage award recognizing people with disabilities
• Outstanding Community Project
• Lifetime achievement award
• Ubuntu Honour.

The finalists will be invited to the awards ceremony that will be hosted at Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre in Kimberly on 15 September 2017.
