The National Heritage Council of South Africa (NHC) – an entity of the Department of Sport, Arts & Culture has concluded the adjudication process by an independent committee of its Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme (PESP4) and allocation of funds to qualifying heritage projects. This follows a public call that was published from May to June 2023 inviting applications for funding of heritage projects nationally.
A total of 58 heritage projects made it through the stringent adjudication process to qualify for the PESP4 funding in 2023. An amount of R52,568 million will be distributed to fund the proposals of the beneficiary organisations. Over six thousand (6 894) jobs will be created through funding these heritage projects. A full list of the beneficiaries will be made public on the NHC website - www.nhc.org.za.

The PESP programme intends to create jobs, stimulate the economy and alleviate poverty with a focus on youth, women, and people with disabilities in the following main categories and priority areas: Living Heritage; Education and training as well as Cultural and Natural Heritage.
