My interest amongst others is railway bridges and lately the Makadas railway line (1925 to 1981) between Touwsriver and Ladismith in the Western Cape (Makadas = make a dash). The main structures on this line were destroyed during the Laingsburg Flood of 1981. There is a fantastic collection of steam trains on this line, however nothing on the steel bridges before and after the flood. Two major bridges must have been over the Groot River and the Touws River. Does anyone have images af the structures no longer with us.
