David Bristow’s knowledge about Cape Town is phenomenal. For 14 years he was editor of Getaway, South Africa’s leading travel magazine. He has over 20 published books on South Africa and Africa beyond.

With degrees in journalism and environmental sciences, David’s stories are about the places and people who created the Cape, interwoven with current issues, international trends and local anecdotes. Love, ghosts, horror, comedy and tragedy – his repertoire is wide.

This is a first for Culture Connect SA. David is a highly sought after tourist guide but prefers to write and be an environmental activist at home.

David learnt to act from an early age and has a life-long love of literature. ‘’I was a sickly child and fell in love with books and words. I have this accumulated knowledge and I can’t keep it inside, it just flows out of me. If not writing I’m talking, telling stories around a fireplace or at dinner time.”

David will bring some of his latest paperbacks, relevant to the tour, to sell and sign at the end of the tour.
