Join in the life and activities of this old town with a fun-filled heritage weekend scheduled for the end of October. This is to celebrate the quaint museum town’s recent kykNET Kwela award as Mpumalanga Town of the Year. The festivities will be arranged by the townsfolk, the Mpumalanga Museum Services, Kruger Lowveld Tourism and Mpumalanga Heritage.
Starting with a five-stop pub crawl on the afternoon and evening of Friday October 21, the whole weekend until Sunday October 23 will be filled with a host of leisure activities, entertainment, museum visits, sightseeing and an old motor gathering on Sunday to end off the weekend.
Dress up for the traditional digger’s ball and dinner at the Royal Hotel on Saturday night, complete with cancan dancers and join a charity auction of the bar ladies, as this used to be the tradition in the days of the gold rush.
