Ever wondered about when the oldest trees were planted in Joburg? Wonder no more! Come with me and stand under and gasp at some of these beauties in our midst. The area was a grassland before gold was discovered here in 1886, but one of these giants was planted before that time, when Boer farmers settled in the area in the 1860s. Joburg can now boast some 15-million trees.

Come along and soak up our natural heritage, which is dazzling after these rains. Let's meet and talk about those early Joburg pioneers who planted these trees.
