On 22-24 October, the Heritage Association of South Africa (HASA) in collaboration with the Clarens Heritage Association (CHA) will host their 23rd annual symposium at the Clarens Golf & Leisure Estate.
Over the three days there will be lectures and poster presentations on various aspects of heritage in the mornings. In the afternoons there will be, among other things, a walking tour of Clarens' heritage buildings and the village nature conservancy, an Anglo-Boer War tour, and an excursion to Golden Gate Highlands National Park and the Basotho Cultural Village.
Interested persons are invited to present a lecture or make a poster presentation. Themes that may be covered include the protection and conservation of heritage sites, archaeology, gastronomy, industrial heritage, living and movable cultural heritage, environmental heritage including geology, and palaeontology.
The annual general meeting of HASA takes place on Tuesday evening, the 22nd of October.
The Gala Dinner will be held on the 23rd at the Golden Gate Hotel during which HASA Gold Medal and Award Certificates will be presented. The symposium will conclude with a braai at the Golden Gate Hotel on 24th October.
