The Faculty of Arts seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer (5 year contract) in the Department of History at UWC. This is one of the leading History Departments on the continent, with a record of innovative research and teaching that is widely recognised. The Department has critical expertise in the fields of Public & Visual History, African History, Gender & History and Museum & Heritage Studies.

Minimum Requirements

•a PhD in History •an exciting track record in research and potential for future ground-breaking publications •expertise in teaching and research of African History

Added advantage and preferences: • Expertise in Visual History and/or Gender and History • willingness to contribute substantively to building collegiality in an environment based on team-work •an interest in developing new areas of the curriculum and research •a record of successful and innovative undergraduate teaching will be a strong recommendation
