This narrow strip of land, only one plot deep, mostly stood empty for many years. It once afforded uninterrupted views of the coastline and Bay to travellers along Main Road. Over a period of about 30 years, from the late 1890s to around 1920, most of the fifteen houses we know today were built along here. All of them still remain, some hardly altered but others much changed.

Part 1 of this talk will explore the properties and personalities from Springtide (167 Main Rd) to Abbey Craig (177 Main Rd). There are many wonderful photos, house plans and family stories to be presented.
