More than 100 young people went to celebrate Heritage Day at Kaditshwene Heritage Site in Enselsberg near Zeerust, North West Province. Despite the Bahurutshe land claim having not been resolved, Kaditshwene was declared a heritage site in 2011.

Kaditshwene was a cultural capital and iron age settlement in Southern Africa which existed between 1470 and 1823. It is believed that more than 20 000 people used to stay at Kaditshwene (a place where a lot of baboons are found). They left in 1823 due to conflicts. Today, the land is in private hands. Many owners of the portions covering the ruins, stone walls and other archaeological evidence charge entrance fees. The community is grateful to Riana Delport who allows access to sites on her land free of charge.

This is the first of many trips to teach children about the importance of heritage and teaching them about their origins.
