Designed by Baker and Masey in 1903 as the stables of Pallinghurst house, the buildings were converted to a family home in 1925 by the architect H. Wolseley-Spicer for the stockbroker, Guy Chalkley. In 1931, the property was bought by author Sarah Gertrude Millin and her husband, Judge Philip Millin who added the library. The modest entrance is through the stable yard, and the hayloft now accommodates bedrooms.
