Klerksdorp Museum

Klerksdorp Museum as a public entity under the auspices of City Council of Matlosana strives to celebrate and educate about the rich cultural historic heritage of our people. We are housed in a former prison building and have transformed various cells and other areas on-site into exhibitions as diverse as various prison exhibitions, Khoekoen rock engravings, Anglo Boer War and Pioneer Exhibitions, as well as various horse carts, ox wagons etc. We also house an Offenders Art Gallery in conjunction with National Department of Correctional Services where the works of artists who are or were offenders can be viewed. We host various Heritage Awareness and Life Long Skills Development programs, of which our regular Basic Blacksmithing Course has proven very popular.
