Extension of Public Review Period - Public Participation Process for West Wits Mining Project. Application for environmental authorisation, waste management license and water use license. In support of an application for a mining permit for the West Wits - Kimberley West Project.
 
Extension of the public review period will take place as advertised in the Roodepoort Record on 11 May 2018 and by placement of Site Notices in the surrounding areas of the proposed site. Please take note of the following changes as advertised.
 
The public review period for the Kimberley West Mining Permit will be altered from the advertised date of 21 May to 21 June 2016 to the following:
 
Review period: 25 May 2018 - 25 June 2018
 
The alteration in the public review dates for the Draft Basic Assessment Report (BAR) is to provide additional time for specialists to complete their independent assessments.
 
Please ensure that that your comments each Malan Scholes Consulting on or before 25 June 2018.
 
This notice serves to inform Interested & Affected Parties (I&APs) that Malan Scholes is preparing two basic assessment reports (BAR), including an environmental management programme as part of the two mining permit application processes for Kimberley West and Creswell Park respectively. The purpose of the BARs are to summarise the BA process followed to date; provide an overview of the proposed project and the affected environment; present the assessment of the potential impacts; and set out the recommended mitigation measures. The BARs are being made available to I&APs for a 30-day comment period from 25 May 2018 until 25 June 2018 not as advertised from (21 May – 21 June 2018) (Kimberley West) and 1 June 2018 until 2 July 2018 (Creswell Park). Copies of the BARs will be placed at the following locations for public review:
 

• Roodepoort Civic Centre - 100 Christiaan de Wet Road, Florida Park, Roodepoort
• Witpoortjie Library - 22 Payne Street, Witpoortjie, Roodepoort
• Solplaatjie Hall - 1960 Motlaka Street, Solplaatjie

 
Please contact Malan Scholes for an electronic copy of the BAR to be emailed or provided on CD. All comments on the BAR should be submitted to Malan Scholes at the details shown below. Comments received will be used to update the BAR, as relevant, and copies of all the comments will be included with the BAR when submitted to DMR. Please ensure that your comments reach Malan Scholes on or before 25 June 2018 (Kimberley West) and 2 July 2018 (Creswell Park).
