This promises to be an extraordinary excursion over two days. Discover the rich history of the Batubatse people and their region of origin with its many heritage sites and places of historical significance. Conducted by the local history enthusiast Doc Mohube Wa Maroteng the following itinerary is suggested:
Day One: Steelpoort
- Overview – Who are the Batubatse? Dwarsrivier geological monument
- Steelpoort – the spiritual capital of Batubatse Old steel bridges of the Steelpoort area Ruins of Fort Burgers
- First platinum discovery site
- Tjate 1879 Anglo/Bapedo War monument
- Asbestos Museum
- The black Jews of India
Day Two: Sekhukhune
- Mohlake – Leolo Mountains - Origin of the Batubatse Kgosi Mampuru II & Mampoer
- Fort Weeber Heritage Site
- St Manche Masemola heritage site
