My name is Tilmann Ziegenhain, I am a German social worker and (part-time) journalist. As part of a more or less voluntary project, I am currently researching the history of the city of Wiesbaden, where I was born and grew up. The plan is to publish the manuscript with a small publishing house for regional history, which has already received the manuscript.
That's why I'm reaching out to the community. One chapter deals with the so-called “British German Legion”. What I have not been able to organise so far are photos of the settlement “Wiesbaden”, which was founded by Stutterheim's troops in South Africa (on Google Maps it looks like there are only 2-3 houses).
Does anyone know of any historical photos of the Wiesbaden settlement? Or could you organise current photos of the settlement? It would certainly be very interesting for readers to see what the “second Wiesbaden” looked like and looks like today. It would also be very exciting to be able to ask the current residents a few questions; if someone has a contact? I read in an article that the house built by Hauptmann von Linsingen is still standing today!
Many thanks in advance, best wishes from Germany.
