Does anyone from the community have details and / or knowledge of the late Col. Jack Scott's house on Observatory Ridge. Scott was a mining engineer and the founder of Strathmore Holdings Limited. He started Stillfontein Gold Mine Co. Ltd in the late 40's to early 50's.
As a child (my father worked for him) I remember visiting Jack's home, an impressive stone house which I believed was occupied by the Shah of Iran during World War II? I have a vague idea that there was a rock stairway from the house gardens used by Mahatma Ghandi to the spruit below (flowing through where Houghton Golf Club must be?) used to launder clothes?
I would be most interested if someone can verify any of the above and perhaps have a photo of the house?
