I would like to bring a very important matter to the attention of the heritage community. The church building commonly known as the Klipkerk (corner Hofmeyer Avenue and Leslie Street) in the Vereeniging CBD needs some urgent attention. Newspaper articles have suggested that the renovation and restoration required is quite expensive and beyond the congregation's finances.

From what I've observed from outside, the rafters or trusses need either replacing or a lot of work to restore them. The same applies to the stone work. The stones show signs of degrading due to the heavy pollution in town, and acid rain. I've also noted that the gutters need work or replacing.

Is there anyone out there who could assist the church community with specialist knowledge, skills or funding?
