PGS - Heritage is seeking to appoint a Stone Age specialist archaeologist to augment their current analysis team for the Polihali Project.
The appointment will be on the basis of a short-term (6 months) contract, and the successful incumbent will be based in Gauteng.
Key Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Master’s degree in Archaeology specialising in LSA lithic typological and technological classifications.
- A basic understanding of raw material types
- Experience in detailed artefact analysis and curation
Key responsibilities are:
- Implementation of the approved analysis and curation programme,
- Work closely with the collections manager to ensure the completion of all analyses during the duration of the project, LSA lithic typological and technological analysis of large-scale excavations
- Accessioning and artefact curation,
Locality: The position will be based at our laboratory at the University of Pretoria in Gauteng, South Africa. Flexible time split is however negotiable.
