Calling all dynamic Researchers/Writers from NC and OFS! Do you want to see more content about the NC and OFS on Wikipedia? Think you have the drive and ideas to research and write this content? Are you based in the OFS or NC? There are rewards for your efforts!
I am leading a project for the Africa Centre in Cape Town which aims to increase the quality and quantity of African content on Wikipedia by training and supporting young, black men and women to become passionate Wikipedias who will help address this challenge and get more local content on Wikipedia.
We are doing one final training for our Wikipedia In Residence programme on 3 September 2017.
We are looking for three young (under 40 years old) volunteers to help us change the African narrative on Wikipedia.
We are looking for volunteers to train up as Wikipedians. We need passionate researchers and writers who would love to suggest, research, edit and write fresh and exciting content that is linked to those three provinces. It could be about the unsung female heroes who drove protests (past and present) in South Africa or maybe its about important and overlooked authors/artists/monuments in an area. There is so little content that the playing field is so wide and open! It will depend on your area of interest.
In return you will receive:
- training on wikipedia
- support to make you a better editor/contributor
- a financial stipend related to your contribution
INTERESTED?
Email your CV and three ideas for entries you would like to see on Wikipedia about the OFS or NC (notable people who were born there, events that took place there, areas that are significant there) to: catp@africacentre.net
