As reported on local TV channel ENCA, A South African Navy ship left Cape Town on the same day of the original voyage of the S.S.Mendi en route for a memorial wreath-laying ceremony to commemorate the 100th Anniversary at the site of the original tragedy.

The speaker will be author Brenda Shepherd, who has compiled a book on the subject, and which will be on sale at the venue.
