Completed in 1929, Riviera Mansions is an early example of a Johannesburg residential apartment building. While the name Riviera reflects the elegance of resorts in France, its architecture is an interpretation of the Cape Dutch style. Bertha Solomon, a life-long crusader for women’s rights, lived here for twenty years until her death in 1968.
