The Heritage Conservation Awareness (HCA) project is bearing fruit. The Heritage Foundation provided funding to three HCA committees for specific heritage conservation projects. The Bron van Herinnering statue in Bloemfontein received much needed maintenance work, the Louis Trichardt committee will develop a historical walking tour and the exterior wooden railing of the well-known Totius House in Potchefstroom will be repaired.
HCA will expand to KZN and the Eastern Cape over the next few months, with visits to several locations to establish new committees being planned. We will visit towns in the Free State, including Petrus Steyn and Boshoff in October, followed by Steynsburg, Grahamstown, Port Elizabeth, Albertinia and Beaufort West.
Please contact Riana Mulder at museum@es.org.za if you would like to join the HCA network.
