In March 2018 a public participation notice appeared on various platforms asking interested and affected parties to comment on the proposed demolition of the house located at 25 Koch Street. The Johannesburg Heritage Foundation contacted the PHRAG on 22 March 2018 highlighting the importance of the house and noting its opposition to demolition. In recent days enthusiasts have reported that the building is being demolished. The roof, windows, doors, floors and staircase have been removed. The PHRAG has been asked to act urgently on this matter.
The structure was built in 1904 and is one of only three surviving houses in the area from the first decade of the 20th Century.
