The Town Council was not able to provide water at pressure sufficient fore the Club’s domestic and gardening requirements in its early years. Water was therefore pumped from the perennial stream, the Auckland Park spruit which ran through the grounds, up to a riveted steel tank on top of this tower built of hard burnt engineering stock bricks laid in English bond.
