This house was designed in 1916 for P. Peterson as a classic example of the English Cottage style, with features that include natural stone foundations, front porch and fireplaces. The house has layered gardens up the Koppie, accessible with sandstone walls and stairs to the top. Later owners include Dr. Lance Barlow (1928), medical doctor, Dr E J Mellor (1939) geologist previously at Jesmond and A M Sturrock (1955) director, Eastern Province Newspapers whose father lived nearby at Earnholme.
