The Hilton Railway Station (1888) is the last remaining station on the original Durban to Johannesburg track dating back to 1884. Several scenes from the film "Cry the Beloved Country" were filmed here, adding to the station's significance.

The site has been left to deteriorate and vagrants have moved in. The toilet block was burnt down in 2012.
