Doug and Janet Drysdale have flagged Hougham Park Coega as a site in danger. The house and outbuildings have been neglected and the family graveyard is overgrown. The house was built in the early 19th century and is of great historical importance to Port Elizabeth. It was the main residence of Hougham Hudson, Resident Magistrate of Port Elizabeth in 1828 and of Uitenhage in 1832. There is huge potential for adaptive reuse. The Drysdales have written to the owners (Coega Development Corporation) and urged them to take action. Please use this thread to add background and updates.
